Four cookies, three of which the site cannot work without. No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers on our own pages, and nothing sold to anyone.
What we set
mv_sessionNecessary30 daysKeeps you signed in. It holds a random token; your account is matched to it on our server, so the cookie itself says nothing about you.
mv_draftNecessary30 daysYou can build a wedding site before making an account. This remembers which unfinished site is yours so it becomes yours when you sign up. Without it, that site would be stranded.
mv_consentNecessary180 daysRemembers the choice you made about this page, so we stop asking.
mv_refOptional30 daysEvery published wedding site has a small “Made with Minted Vows” link. If you arrived through one and later start your own site, this is how we know which couple to thank. It is set only if you allow it.
All four are first-party, set by mintedvows.com and sent nowhere else. The first three cannot be read by scripts at all.
Something that is not a cookie
While you are answering the questions that start a site, your progress is kept in your own browser’s storage under mv_onboarding so that closing the tab does not lose your answers. It stays on your device and is cleared when you finish.
Visitor numbers
We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and builds no profile of you. We can see that a page was visited; we cannot see that it was you.
Other people’s cookies
Two places bring somebody else along, and it is worth being plain about both.
The map on a wedding site. When a couple adds their venue, the site shows a Google Map so guests get directions with one tap on the day. That map is a frame from Google, and Google sets its own cookies inside it, under its own terms. It is the most useful thing on the page for a guest who is late and lost, so we leave it there rather than hide it behind a second tap.
Paying. Publishing a site, sending a cash gift or buying message credits goes through Paystack, who handle the card or mobile money details. We never see them. Paystack sets its own cookies during that payment.

Changing your mind
The optional cookie is only ever set if you allowed it. To change that, clear cookies for mintedvows.com in your browser and the question comes back on your next visit. Clearing them also signs you out, which is the same button doing its job.
